Bunk beds are a stable in most homes these days. They save so much space by stacking two beds, one on top of another one. Twin over Twin- This is the most common type of bunk bed. It is also known as a standard bunk bed. Simply put, this is a bed with a twin-sized bed over another twin-sized bed.
Twin over Full- This is a great choice if you need to fit 3 people into the same room. The bottom sized full bed can easily fit two people. While the top twin sized bed cozily holds one above.
Triple Bunks- This is an extreme version of a bunk bed where three beds are stacked on top of another.
L-shaped- This bunk, as you probably guessed is shaped like an L. With the beds at a 90 degree angle of each other. When looked at from above it takes the form of an L. This creates space under the top bunk. May times this space is used to put a desk. Shelves and storage can also be placed in this open area.
Futon Bunks- These beds are great for giving a more grown up feel. Which makes then a wonderful fit in a dorm room or an apartment. They simply have a futon, which can be used as a couch or a bed, on the lower level of the bunk bed.
DIY- All sorts of plans are out there for building your own bed. Some are even free on the Internet. This can be a fabulous money saving option if you have the tools, time, and carpentry know how.
Costume made - These beds are ones that are designed just for you. There are many wood workers or carpenters out there that would be happy to help you design your perfect beds. You might want it to go with a certain theme that fits the bedrooms style. Maybe some one in your family has a special need. Having your bed designed could be the answer to the special accommodations needed.
No matter which one you decide on, it needs to be fit you and your needs. Making a list of your wants and needs is always a good place to start before purchasing anything.
